St. Homobonus, Patron of Business People

As we gather to discuss helping each other in the marketplace,
St. Homobonus (Ah-Mo-Bonus) teach us your humility,
generosity and Christ-like works within our businesses.
Help us to reach out to those in our Catholic community
to aid each other in our business endeavors.
We ask the Holy Spirit to be with us at all times,
especially at these gatherings with fellow Catholic business people.
Remind us to always be true to our Catholic teachings
and exemplifying strong business morals and ethics.
Guide us to never forget those who are less fortunate
and, as we can, reach out to help them.

Who Was St. Homobonus?
St. Homobonus (d. 1197) was a cloth merchant from Cremona, Italy, who became renowned for his integrity in business and his radical generosity toward the poor. He is the patron saint of business people, tailors, and shoemakers. He was canonized just two years after his death by Pope Innocent III — one of the fastest canonizations in Church history — recognized for living his faith fully in the marketplace.
